PayBox.me - SCAM

We are moving this site to the Scam List. Site now redirects to virtapay.com due to their so called "re-branding". Some accounts and "PayBox" currency was lost, at least mine was. Not like it was real earnings anyways, but just the same, they will be moved to the Scam List. See "cons" section for combined reasons why:

Full Review

PayBox.me was requested for us to look at, and it is not a ptc site, but a online payment processor. The details are still kind of sketchy and the site is in Pre Launch mode till 2011. We have serious doubts about this site's legitimacy, if you look at their terms you will see that their generous sign up bonuses are not what they appear to be.

Account Balances

All account balances are held in PayBox currency. PayBox maintains a currency that is autonomous and independent of all nations and governments. The PayBox currency is denominated in dollars and cents (similar to the currency of the United States and over 20 other countries). The PayBox currency is currently in a closed system, and cannot be exchanged or spent. Before long we plan to open our currency to be spent and exchanged just as you can with any other currency. Our plans include person-to-person transactions (via the Internet and over cell phone text messages), integration with merchants and shopping cart systehttp://ptc-investigation.com/WebSitePageEditor/default.aspx?fileUrl=payboxme.aspx&tabName=editms, debit card transactions (through an issued debit card linked to your account), and more. The value of our currency is estimated to be close to that of the U.S. dollar. As is the case with any currency, once the PayBox currency becomes openly exchangeable, its value as weighted against other world currencies can and will fluctuate due to forces beyond our control.

Did you get that? You are not earning dollars you are earning paybox currency. So as of now the earnings are useless.

If you do join be sure to use your spam email box, with a unique password. Don't use the same password you would use with other payment processors. Also be careful of what info you do submit to the site. At least until the site launches and everyone can see if this site actually the real deal.

Here are the pros and cons of this site:

PROS:

1. Unlimited Direct Referrals - There are no limits on how many referrals you can have. Great for promoters and those who can refer a lot of people.

2. All Countries Accepted - So far there are no restrictions and all can join and earn from this site. Will update if this changes.

CONS:

1. Negative Feedback & Complaints -  Not everyone is convinced that this site it the real thing. You can see these complaints and feedback at these places:

2. Accounts Gone - Well I looked into the change of their domain and found my account is no longer. Some say their account is still there. However, like I said before, the currency is fake and worthless.  Site supposedly changed their "Branding" name and their domain, but old blog post are no longer and the site still claiming it will launch and still in beta. This has been going on for over 6 months!!

3. Misuse of the Dollar Sign & False Advertising - Wave and flaunting big earnings on your home page and using the " $ "sign as a way to lure in members is not a good idea. Especially what you advertise on your home page and what you have in your terms are two separate things. You want to use virtual currency, then why use the dollar sign? It is fake, bogus, and they know it.

4. New Site - Use caution with new sites and what info you share with them. This site could be a phishing site, and the site has a very long pre-launch phase.

5. Whois Private - Unknown ownership. Not all sites that hide their identity are scams, but this is just one more reason why you should use caution with this site.

Some Things You Should Know About This Site...

  • If you don't log in for more than 1 month, they may terminate your account.

  • Referral Earnings : $5 to your PayBox balance for every person who follows your referral link and joins PayBox. This is not real USD money.

  • If you are an EarlyBird user (a user who is active before PayBox services are generally available to the public), you may earn a variable daily rate which will be automatically added to your PayBox account balance. The conditions for keeping your account active will be posted within the login area. The rate paid may change at any time, and may be discontinued without notice.

  • Site Created: August 2, 2010   Expected Launched: 2011

 Summary:

PayBox.me was nothing more than a waste of time. Now they switch to their new site virtapay.com and several of us can't log in. PayBox.me will be placed on the Scam List for the reason previously described. We no longer review sites that use fake currency, but we would strongly advise against using virtapay.com.

If anyone would like to share their experience that they had with this site, whether it is good or bad, feel free to do so in our comment section at the end of this review.
